1. Select a Page Control
• Page Controls are the "Brain" of the paging system.
• System are easily expandable and/or upgradable, which makes it easier for moves, adds, or changes.
• Some considerations to think about before purchasing would be:
• Number of Zones: This is the number of areas that would be paged independently or simultaneously.
• One-Way (Broadcast Only), Talkback (Two-Way Handsfree), or Mixed (Broadcast and Two-Way)
• Features:
• All Call - Page Announcement to ALL Speakers.
• Background Music - Background Music broadcast through paging system.
• Emergency Page Override - Urgent messages take precedence over general pages.
• Group Call - Combines separate zones to receive the same page message.
• Tone Generator - Built-In Feature that provides Night Ring, Time Clock Tone, and Door Bell.
• Telephone Access Method / Port - PBX Loop Start Trunk Port, Electronic Key Line Position, Dedicated Single Line Phone Set, PBX Loop Start Trunk Port, Page Port (Telephone System Dependent), Centrex or C.O. Line, or PBX Analog Station Port (Loop Disconnect Required).



2. Select Speakers and Horns
• Choosing your speakers and horns should be based on environment in which the speaker or horn would be used, such as harsh exterior / interior environments, office / retail environment, or a warehouse environment. These Valcom products are offered in Talkback (Two-Way Handsfree) or One-Way (Broadcast Only) for easy communication suited for specific environments. There are a few considerations to consider while shopping for your horns or speakers such as square footage of area that will need paging, ceiling heights and types, noise levels of the paging environment, and style, color and decor
• Speakers: The speakers are mostly used indoors where noise level is not as high as in an industrial area. Valcom speakers are mainly designed to look good as well as sound good. They provide superior background music and voice reproduction.
• Horns: Valcom Horns are highly efficient in rugged and industrial environments. They are designed to provide superior voice quality for high noise level areas. Not only are they designed for high noise, they are designed to withstand harsh exterior / interior areas.


3. Choose Power Supply (If Needed)
• Choosing Power Supply for your Valcom Paging System is not as hard as it may seem. Valcom has its own way of determining its power usage for its speakers and horns. Built-in power supply is sometimes included in the page control, so power supply may not be needed. However, the amount of power supply varies with the quantity and type of page control and horns and speakers.
• Valcom measures its power supply in VPUs (Valcom Power Unit) - For example, if one page control has +30 VPU (Power Supplied) and 15 speakers has -1 VPU (Power Consumed), total all of it together in this format: 15 speakers x -1 VPU = -15 VPU, then one page control +30 VPU - (-15 VPU) = +15 VPU; then you do not need power supply to run those speakers and you have left over power (+15 VPU) to run more speakers!
